Mr. Torvinen is one of the few if not the only lawyer in Northern Nevada who does not charge a retainer. His extensive knowledge of his practice areas and his willingness to leverage technology has allowed him to maintain a real-time law practice, resulting in a significantly more cost-effective legal process for clients.

Northern Nevada Native

A Northern Nevada native, Mr. Torvinen earned a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1983. In 1987, he graduated from the University of Arizona College of Law, and passed the Nevada Bar Exam.

After law school, Mr. Torvinen worked for Arthur Andersen & Co. as an accountant, and is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.). He began practicing law in 1991 with Osborne & Gamboa, Chtd., and in 1996 started a solo law practice.
Mr. Torvinen practices primarily in the areas of estate planning, family law and divorce taxation. In 2016, Mr. Torvinen obtained his certification as a Estate Planning Law Specialist. Mr. Torvinen is one of three Certified Estate Planning Law Specialists currently practicing in Northern Nevada.

Legal and Financial Advice

Both an accomplished attorney and C.P.A., Mr. Torvinen is constantly sought after for legal and financial advice. He has written many articles on law office technology for the Washoe County Bar Association, and lectures frequently at continuing education seminars for both accountants and lawyers.
